Kilmainham Gaol Museum

Dublin's old county gaol, opened in 1796 and closed in 1924. Irish rebels were held here from the 1798 rising to the Civil War, and leaders of the 1916 Rising were executed in its yard.

Visits are by guided tour of the gaol, followed by time in the museum; allow about an hour and a half. The visitor centre in the old courthouse has a café and a book and gift shop. Run by the Office of Public Works.
